Human Rights Education Survey & Draw (2009-2010)
NWT teachers were invited to participate in an on-line survey to let the Commission know how to support human rights education in the classroom. Survey participants’ names were entered in a regional draw. A total of seven laptops were given out. The seven winners were amongst 232 survey participants from 28 communities in the NWT.
Respect Everyone Everywhere (2008-2009)
The Respect Everyone Everywhere project raised awareness and promoted human rights values such as freedom, peace, diversity, inclusiveness and respect amongst students from Grades 7 to 12. Students identified human rights leaders in their schools. Their teachers encouraged them to talk about human rights and to find ways of making their schools better places. Winning students (nominator & human rights leader) were awarded a MacBook.
