Office of the Director of Human Rights
The Director of Human Rights is responsible for the administration of the complaint process and the operations of the Commission’s office. The Director also acts as secretary to the Commission.
Administration of the Complaint Process
- The Director reviews complaints to ensure that they fall under the jurisdiction of the NWT Human Rights Act. To learn more about the types of complaints that fall under the Act, visit Your Rights.
- The Director can dismiss complaints or refer complaints to the Adjudication Panel for a hearing. To learn more about the complaint process, visit Complaints.
- The Director acts as a registrar of complaints and ensures decisions of the Adjudication Panel are available to the public. To view these decisions, visit Decisions.
Administration of the Commission office
- The Director is responsible for the administration of the office, including supervising employees, implementing the Commission’s business plan and budget, and other administrative responsibilities.
Acts as Secretary to the Commission
- The Director acts as secretary to the Commission by acting as a resource, coordinating meeting logistics, preparing agendas and meeting materials in consultation with the Chairperson, and keeping minutes of meetings.
